Prof. Jalees Ahmed Khan Tareen, former Vice Chancellor of Pondicherry University, on 4 February, took over the charge of the Vice Chancellor of B S Abdur Rahman University, Chennai. Earlier, Prof. Tareen rendered his services in Kashmir University as Vice Chancellor in the years 2001-04. He has also been the faculty member of the department of Geology in the University of Mysore for nearly 33 years (1967–2000).
Prof. Tareen, a Padam Shree laureate, is a renowned scientist and educationist. He is the author of two fundamental crystallography books, namely “A Basic Course in Crystallography” and “Fundamentals of Crystal Chemistry.”
