Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gahlot deserves appreciation for his bold stand against pub-culture. Undoubtedly what happened in Mangalore cannot be justified, yet it remains a bitter fact that pub-culture is against the interest of young girls themselves. Indian culture and major Indian religions have formulated guidelines for safeguarding females from being exploited by sex maniacs. Yet blind following of western culture is responsible for ever-increasing but unreported abortions among unmarried girls. It is quite usual that spoilt boys play sex with innocent girls to desert them later causing many victim-girls to even commit suicide because of accidental pregnancy. Even Magsaysay awardee first IPS woman officer Dr Kiran Bedi also advocated for self-restraint for girls in their own interest.
