The culprits of 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blast case have been convicted by the Supreme Court. These bomb blasts remind us of large-scale anti-Muslim riots in Mumbai in 1992, after demolition of historic Babri Masjid. Justice Shrikrishna Commission Report on 1992 Mumbai anti-Muslim riots is a landmark judgment of India’s independent judiciary. The communal had called the report anti-Hindu. Justice Srikrishna is a practising Hindu known for his honesty and impartiality. Among them who backed the report were eminent jurists, journalists, leaders and social workers like NaniPalkhiwala, KapilSibal, KuldipNayar, Khuswant Singh and others.
In this regard, the government both in the state and at the centre had failed to save the democratic and secular character of India. We appeal to the State Government and the Union Government and the judiciary to fully implement the Commission’s report and prosecute and punish the culprits, their masterminds and conspirators at the earliest.
