Punjab Waqf Board will open a convent school in Ludhiana. This was disclosed by Izhar Alam, Chairman, Punjab Waqf Board, and former ADGP, Punjab, who visited the city along with other members of Waqf Board to hold a meeting with Shahi Imam Punjab, Habib-ur-Rehman Sani Ludhianvi. The chairman said, “It may take a few years to start this school as we will have to choose the place, construct the building etc. This school will be for one and all, but it will provide religious education as an optional subject, so that Muslim students could be facilitated with the facility of studying the Arabic language etc. It will be a public school and affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi.” Talking to the reporters, Izhar Alam said, “About four years ago, the Punjab Waqf Board constructed a big hospital at Malerkotla under the name “Daihaneema.” But the finishing touches are yet to be given to it. I hope by the end of this year, we would be able to equip it with technology and required staff and make it functional.”
