There are many questions on the alleged jailbreak by and killing of eight undertrials of Bhopal Central Jail. Mr. Intezar Naeem, Assistant Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has also taken pains to raise as many as 25 questions in this regard. They are as follows:

  1. Is there any proper security arrangement in Bhopal Central Jail? If yes, how come eight inmates were able to run away from there?
  2. Are there CCTVs installed in the Jail; and if yes, whether all the CCTVs were completely operational and working? If yes, is the incident of running away of eight undertrials from the Jail recorded there?
  3. If the CCTVs were not working then the question arises why they were not working and who is responsible for that?
  4. In how many cells were all eight undertrials staying and how did they make a plan to escape together and why and how did the jail authorities remain unaware of it?
  5. How did they get branded clothes and shoes before escaping from the jail?
  6. From which wall did they try to jump? What is its height and how did they climb the wall?
  7. How was the ladder formed to climb the wall and what was the time taken?
  8. What was the material used while climbing the wall and can the police climb the wall as they claimed by using the same material used by the inmates?
  9. What was the time taken for the inmates to gather at one spot, make the ladder and climbing the wall one after another?
  10. Were electric wires not fixed on the upper side of the jail walls and if they were, how did they climb the wall?
  11. During the entire incident, what were jail security forces and vigilant tower doing?
  12. If all the inmates managed to climb up the jail wall, how did they jump down? If they jumped down, why did none of them get injured or any kind of fracture on the limbs? How were they in a position to run away from there?
  13. Why did they not move away separately instead of moving together in order to hide?
  14. Was there any specific reason that all of them moved 10 kilometres together in the same direction?
  15. Even if the Sarpanch saw all of them together, how did he come to know that they were absconding after jailbreak or were terrorists?
  16. To which police official did the Sarpanch inform about them and is there any record of that conversation available?
  17. How many police officials were on the team, who were they and to which senior police officer did they report about their movement for the operation and is the record the development safe?
  18. When the Sarpanch informed about them, what was the time taken by the police to reach the spot and did the inmates remain there during that period and why did they not move away to another direction or location?
  19. Why did the police make killing field of the spot where the undertrials were located and why did the police not try to arrest them when they were having no arms with them?
  20. Why were they shot above the waist, on the chest and forehead and why not arrested after firing on their legs?
  21. In the social media, it was seen that an injured was shot again by the police when he saw some movement in his body. Why was he not arrested alive? Was this not a violation of human rights?
  22. Is it that all eight inmates were taken out by the police themselves and shot dead on the outskirt of the city?
  23. Was it that all of them were about to be acquitted and having anticipated the wrath of the court the state government and the police staged the jailbreak incident and encounter so that they can neither remain alive nor they can be enjoy acquittal?
  24. And if they really managed to escape from the jail then on the basis of gross dereliction of duty why were all those officials on duty not suspended?
  25. In the light of all these questions, does it not seem to be a fake encounter and therefore erring officials be punished and justice done to the near and dear ones of all those killed?
