The presentation of the first ever translation of the Holy Koran into the Georgian language was held in Tbilisi at the Caucasus House nongovernmental organization. The central religious book of Islam was translated into Georgian by Oriental studies expert, Professor Georgy Lobzhanidze. Lobzhanidze told the audience that he had been translating the Koran for several years, visiting many countries, including Iran, Egypt and Turkey. The presentation was attended by representatives of Georgia’s Muslim community, Turkish, Azeri and Iranian diplomats, Orthodox church notables and other experts.
