RAZA LIBRARY GETS NEW OSD

Prof. Shah Abdus Salam of Lucknow University has taken over charge as the new OSD of the historic Raza Library, Rampur. He succeeds Dr. Viqarul Hasan Siddiqui, who served the Library for a close to 13 years. A notification to this effect was issued by Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chairman Raza Library Board T.V. Rajeshwar Rao. The former Director General of Archaeological Survey of India, Dr. Viqarul Hasan Siddiqui was appointed in 1993 as the OSD of the 235-year old Raza Library by the former West Bengal Governor Prof. Noorul Hasan. During his tenure the Library brought out more than one hundred new titles. Prof. Abdus Salam, who before taking charge as the OSD was Member of Raza Library Board. He is an eminent Arabic scholar and has rich administrative experience. He has also taught at the Minnesota University. One of his major contributions is that he is instrumental in introducing Islam through the Hindi language. His term will be of two years.
