Naseeruddin Shah’s Unfortunate Remarks on Taliban

It is pity that a video clip of Bollywood film actor Naseeruddin Shah’s remarks on Taliban has gone viral on YouTube. It is sad that the said actor has called them “Barbarians”. Muslims who might be celebrating the return of Taliban is totally wrong. However, it seems the actor has a tiny knowledge about the Taliban, otherwise he would have refrained from his remarks. He might be a blind follower of what the media say, show and print. He should at least know that the Electronic and mainstream Print Media are no more independent. Most of them have become a tool of powers that be. Some of the media persons dance on the tunes of world leaders for their political gain; therefore they defame and tarnish the image of Taliban deliberately for a few dollars to earn and run their businesses.

However, if the remarks of the actor that the Taliban are “Barbarians”, I must ask him what would be his remarks on Myanmar’s leader Aung Sang Suki, under whose leadership millions of innocent Muslims were massacred? I must also ask him why he had not made any remark against the former US President George W. Bush and other Presidents who are solely responsible for killing more than a million civilians in Afghanistan during the last 20 years long war. Does the actor have an answer?  If not, he should refrain from passing such remarks.

Police must Act to Nab the Culprits

It’s shameful to see a few goons aligned with a particular religious organisation attacking the house of Muslim MP from Hyderabad and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in Lutyen’s Delhi, which is otherwise supposed to be a highly secured area where most VVIPs reside. The Delhi Police, which reports directly to the Union Home Ministry, must act efficiently and quickly in nabbing the culprits. Otherwise, this incident will also be tagged as being sponsored by the BJP. No individual or group should dare attack someone’s house in broad daylight without fear of lawful agencies. The incident is certainly a matter of worry for the general public. If an MP is not safe in the most secure area of the national capital, how can a common citizen can expect to have safe and secure surroundings? To ensure the safety of its citizens, the concerned state police is entirely responsible and so by bringing such anti-social elements to justice, the police can gain the confidence of the public. This will also prove that the police force can never afford to be biased against any religion or a political party.

Editor of a Mysore Based Urdu Paper Attacked

Recently some temples are reported to have been demolished in Mysore district as per orders of the Supreme Court, against which Hindu Jagarana Vedike staged a protest. MS Kauser, editor of a Mysore based Urdu paper, was recording the speech of Vedike General Secretary. A group of right wing (Vedike) activists on seeing the identity card of Kauser attacked him. Sri Ravikumar, Mysore District Journalists Association President, has condemned the attack. When other journalists were covering the event, a lone Muslim journalist was attacked, because he was a Muslim. Karnataka state is ruled by a right wing government, as such right wing activists have taken law into their own hands, police are a silent spectator.

Is this “Sab ka Sath, Sab ka Vikas, Sab ka Vishwas”? After this right wing government took reins of administration, the national ambience for Muslims in particular and weaker sections in general is getting bad to worse. India is a vast country and has many peace loving people and their voice carries weight in the society. It is the right time for them to raise their voice against injustice in society. One voice against injustice is more valuable than thousands of voices of injustice.
