What an Outright Sell-Out of the Ethics and Morals by the Media!
Ajay Gangwar, the District Collector of Barwani in Madhya Pradesh was transferred to the post of deputy secretary in the state secretariat.  His crime?  Through his postings in Facebook, he took a dig at Nehru’s detractors while praising the former PM’s contributions. “Let me know the mistakes that Nehru should not have committed. He asked, “Is it his mistake that he prevented all of us from becoming Hindu Talibani Rashtra in 1947? Is it his mistake to open IIT, ISRO, BARC, IISB, IIM, BHEL steel plant, dams and thermal power? Is it his mistake that he honoured Sarabhai, Homi Jehangir in place of intellectuals like Aasaram and Ramdev? Praising Nehru further, Gangwar added, “He (Nehru) preferred university over bovine house and he showed us a scientific approach than turning to superstitions.”  Never in the history, we had such an intolerant, bigoted and vengeful government.
On the other side, all the electronic media houses have telecast incessantly the celebrations of Modi government’s two-year in office and worked as publicity agents to gloat his ‘achievements’!  What an outright sell-out of the ethics and morals by the media!  We never witnessed such an extreme partisan behaviour by the so-called fourth-pillar of democracy…shamelessly kowtowing to the diktats by the government.

Remarkable Gesture
This refers to the news published in Radiance (22-28 May, 2016) under the heading, “Tauqeer Raza Khan Visits Darul Uloom Deoband, Says Attempts on To Malign Muslims”. It is a very significant development and equally an eye-opener for one and all. Such kind of flexibility and cooperation is the need of the hour. Such gesture will not only unite Muslims on core issues pertaining to Muslims but also at the same time make their voice loud and effective. If Muslims can unite and come under one umbrella for the sake of the community then the very initiative will definitely allure the attention of all those who have traditionally taken Muslims for granted.
Dominant pressure groups have the power and strength to force the government of the day to solve their genuine problems. More scholars and religious leaders should welcome his great gesture for the sake of the community and at the same time encourage other sect leaders and scholars to put their heads together in such a troubled times when their identity is at stake and all attempts are being made to isolate them further by trying to malign the image of Islam and its followers only to incite hatred against them. Muslims should first unite and then reach out to like-minded and weaker and marginalised sections suppressed and discriminated since ages.

Realise the Power of Unity
Political parties, which go to a deep sleep, wake up only when the Election Commission announces the election schedule. Those linked with elections show their faces in their respective constituencies and commence asking the public what they want them to do.
Like paper kites in summer or frogs in the rainy season, several political parties suddenly make their presence known through handbills and posters. It is never too late to mend. Adversity is a very good teacher. One should not be ashamed to learn from failure why he or she failed and at the same time seek to rectify his or her defects.
It is high time all Muslim organisations join hands with All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat.  Whenever and wherever Muslims were united they were at the top of the ladder of success and whenever and wherever they were divided they became slaves of their slaves!

Social Boycott
This refers to news item, published in Radiance (15-27 May, 2016). It was good to note that Muslim religious leaders from Bihar have declared social boycott of people demanding dowry for marriages. It is a social evil which is becoming more prevalent across India and such an announcement is a step forward in the right direction. People and religious leaders of different places and states should also follow it and encourage others to follow it for the larger interest of the community.
