Modi Linked INDIA to Terror Outfits!

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has linked the 26 Opposition parties united platform INDIA to terror outfits. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is a key stakeholder of the forum, took a swipe at home sarcastically for his comparison. The Trinamul Congress supremo said Mr. Modi’s comments reflected that he “liked” the name INDIA and accepted it also; and she thanked him for it. The West Bengal Chief Minister was speaking after meeting Governor C.V. Ananda Bose at Raj Bhavan. Asked about Mr. Modi’s latest attack on the opposition over its new identity, Ms. Banerjee said, “Thanks to our Prime Minister! I think he has liked the name INDIA and accepted it like the public did. The way you guys always ask the question, he has to say something and that’s why he said this,” she added. “Does anyone call them India “Mujahideen” when they play a match? What is the name of the country?  It’s India, what is your motherland? We write India, so it’s INDIA. The more BJP vilifies the name INDIA, the more it sounds like they adore it much.

 Conspiracies?

Whatever has happened to those conspiracy theories about the horrific Balasore train accident put forward by those who want to keep the communal cauldron boiling. Attempts were being made to pin the blame on Muslims. Now that the Railway safety board has concluded that lapses at multiple levels had led to the disaster, the government should identify and punish the culprits who started rumours that this was an attack by anti-Indian forces.

Unfortunately, the Hon’ble Railway Minister too did not summarily discount the possibility of such an eventuality. Apparently, the Union Government is obsessed with bullet trains, free Wi-fi and swanky platforms rather than paying more attention to the nuts and bolts of all that is involved in the safety of passengers. It would also be unfortunate if some junior staff is made a scapegoat while those who are really responsible go unpunished.

Who’s Responsible for Spoiled Career of These 18 Students?

After its Vice Chancellor and other officials were manhandled by protesting students, the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University has expelled 18 students and banned six outsiders from entering the campus. All those who faced action are members of the RSS’ students wing Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and were part of the protest against fee-hike and other issues that turned violent on July 21.

The university’s chief proctor Satyapal Singh on Sunday said that the decision was taken a day earlier following reports of the Dean of Students Welfare and a judicial inquiry that had been set up to look into the incident. The expelled students won’t be able to sit for examinations. And they won’t get entry in the campus and the hostels of the university. We wonder who will be held responsible for the career of these students getting spoiled thus?
