Five Farmers Die After Violence Erupts in UP

Farmers’ protest against three contentious, anti-farmers, pro-corporate agri laws turned violent when two SUVs reportedly belonging to BJP workers allegedly ran over protesting farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh in the afternoon of October 3. At least five farmers are reported to be killed in the violence. The farmers were agitating against the farm laws and had blocked the road to oppose the UP deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit to Banbirpur village.

In a tweet, Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait claimed that the farmers were attacked when they were returning after staging a protest against the Centre’s new farm laws. He also alleged that people in the BJP convoy opened fire. Internet services too have been banned in Lakhimpur Kheri district after the incident.

Following the incident, Congress general secretary and UP in-charge Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in a tweet, said: “How much hatred BJP harbours against farmers in the country? Don’t they have a right to live? If they raise their voices, then you will open fire on them? Run them over by vehicles? Enough is enough…This is the country of farmers, and not a fiefdom of BJP ideology…Farmers’ satyagrah will get stronger, farmers’ voice will get louder.”

This is the height of insensitivity on the part of those who are mad after power.

According to news published in a section of press that Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi’s residence was attacked by Hindu Rightists in New Delhi’s VVIP area.

Mere condemnation by the people will not do. The government should  take some concrete and tangible steps to stop recurrence of such incidents.

Israel–Palestine Conflict

Palestine, known as Canaan in the Bible, existed as a Muslim state till 1948. With the help of some big powers, the US expelled the Muslims living in Palestine in 1947 and in its place created the first state of Israel for Jews living scattered in different parts of the world. Some Arab countries had to bear the brunt of Palestinians expelled from their homeland.

Consequently, the Palestinian Muslims started struggle against Jews for the restitution of their homeland and are now branded as terrorists by the US. And it gave rise to even armed conflict between Palestinians and Jews in Palestine. Is it a fault for the Palestinians to fight for restitution of their homeland? Is it justified to call them terrorists who are fighting for restitution of their homeland? Aren’t they terrorists who illegally expropriate other’s homeland? Regrettably the UNO seems to have been favouring the state of Israel illegally created by the US. It also holds good for other Muslim states illegally expropriated and ruled by the US installed puppet governments therein. In fact, what is now happening in those Muslim states can be called terrorism against terrorism.

Palestine occupies a religious importance in Islam as the earliest Muslims used to offer prayers (Namaz) facing towards Masjid al-Aqsa situated in Jerusalem. As such Muslims evermore try to reclaim it.
