Towards Orienting Life…
This refers to the article “Towards orienting life by balancing relations” by Nazrana Darvesh in Radiance Viewsweekly (27 March 2021). The nationwide campaign organised by Women’s Wing Jamaat-e-Islami hind “Strong Family, Strong Society” has provided me with great knowledge about family and relations. It points out about how a family begins and by orienting one’s life by balancing relations, career, social work in a justified manner, keeping God at focal point, and helps in maintaining a balanced life. It also speaks about how the family atmosphere can shape and individuals’ life either to make or break a society.
This article has given me overall knowledge about beginning of a family and the responsibilities a couple has towards each other and the responsibility of parents over children and in turn the duties of children towards their parents and so on. It is a useful knowledge for the youth as they grow up and start a family life. They ought to know their position in a relationship. And this impacts and creates a greater influence for youngsters about family life.

Make Wise Use of Water
Because of less snow and rain this winter, Northern states are likely to face acute water scarcity this summer. Many water schemes may reach the brink of closure. The states might have to go through the toughest times because of drinking water shortage. It will also affect groundwater as well as other downhill water sources such as springs, wells, bawris, lakes, rivulets, streams and rivers.
Demand for water has been growing due to increasing population. Water shortage is also likely to cause crop losses and reduced fodder availability. Wise use of water is the need of the hour to address the water crisis.

50th Anniversary of Bangladesh
The India-Bangladesh joint commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation war is a testimony to the strong friendship between the two neighbouring countries. PM Modi was part of several commemorative events in Dhaka. Modi unveiled the foundation stone for the first memorial to be built in Bangladesh to honour Indian soldiers who fought and gave their lives for Bangladesh liberation in 1971. India conferred the Gandhi peace prize posthumously on Bangladesh founder father and first president, Shaikh Mujibur Rahman. Both have signed agreements on several issues. This year is also the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two.
Although relations had been warm during the first few years of Bangladesh’s independence but gradually relations deteriorated. Despite their shared history, language and culture, undercurrent of hostility persists. This hostility seems to have grown due to recent developments. India’s construction of border fence to prevent Bangladeshis from entering India, the Modi Government’s hostile policies targeting Bengali-speaking Muslims in India, calling them ‘termites’ have considerably hurt Bangladeshis. Bangladesh people have protested his visit in many parts of the country. This is not a good sign to develop relations, and these are not in India’s best interests.

A Surprising Fact
India is a land of many religions. Its educational system has been excellent since time immemorial. Let me put a surprising fact to the notice of the readers of Radiance.
In India, there 22 universities in the name of “Gandhi”. Eight universities are named after Mahatma Gandhi, eight universities are named after Rajiv Gandhi, five after Mrs. Indira Gandhi and one university is named after Sanjay Gandhi.
I leave it to the learned readers to draw their own conclusions to the above mentioned fact.
