Are They Asking for the Moon?

Hamas has demanded Palestinian prisoners’ release in exchange for Israeli hostages. “The price to pay for the large number of enemy hostages in our hands is to empty the (Israeli) prisons of all Palestinian prisoners,” Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obeida was quoted as saying by news agency AFP. Reports said that the Hamas spokesman made the remarks during a broadcast by the Hamas-run Al-Aqsa television channel.

The demand of Hamas is based on the demands of truth and justice. It is in accordance with the international ethics of war. They are not asking for the moon.

Why Do They Love to Perpetuate Wars?

Recently an internal memo from the US State Department warned against the use of certain phrases aimed at de-escalating the conflict between Hamas and Israel in the Gaza Strip. According to The Huffington Post, the memo, circulated around the department on October 13, stated that press materials should not include three phrases, “de-escalation/ceasefire,”“end to violence/bloodshed” and “restoring calm.”

The question is not as to why the US reaffirms its staunch support for Israel and its ongoing relentless air and ground assaults on the Gaza Strip, for it is well-known. The billion-dollar question is why do they want a war to continue longer, why don’t they favour ceasefire and ending the bloodshed? This is because some of the top politicians in the high echelons of the US administration are running or patronizing arms manufacturing industries. If a war comes to an end soon, who will purchase their arms and ammunition?
