The Harsh Reality of Life

Our existence in this world is through our parents, who nurture, care, and inculcate moral values and virtues in us.  They provide us with the best of everything and above all sacrifice their comforts all along during the period of our upbringing. We both are dependent and inseparable throughout our lives because of our bonding through flesh and blood.  However great the tough time in our lives, we fight in unison and emerge winners.

Any situation or problem or hardship is not greater or more important or valuable than one’s own life that one should contemplate and act on taking one’s own life for it. Remember ALLAH (GOD) has created us human, the best of HIS creations because we have been endowed with THINKING POWER which HE has not given to other creations.  Why don’t we make use of it to resolve our problems? Any wrong act that can harm self and others is the provocation from Satan.

This is aptly pertinent to the girl in question who took her own life by jumping into the Sabarmati River in Gujarat despite fervent appeals from her parents to come back home wherever she was at the time of speaking on phone.  She could have fought her marital discord wisely through legal means or could have filed for separation from her husband. She could have well thought of how meaningless it was to continue marital relationship with such a person who demands dowry. Please note there is no such concept of dowry in Islam.

Finally, at least for the sake of her parents she could have retraced her decision. Remember agreeing to separation is not greater than loss of life.

Babri Masjid

On November 9, 2019 the Supreme Court of India gave its judgement on Babri Masjid case. In its judgement the judiciary accepted that no temple was demolished, and no historical proof of Sri Ram having born exactly below the main dome of Masjid was established. Further Judiciary pronounced that keeping of idols in 1949, surreptitiously, vandalism and desecration of 1992 was illegal. Every sensible person was expecting the judgement would be based on facts and evidence as per law of the land, but it was based on myth.

Now the Ram temple construction committee is facing massive problems in constructing the temple, having 1200 columns which can stand for 1000 years. Since the place where Babri Masjid had been standing for over 450 years is unsuitable for Sri Ram temple, let the committee appeal to the Supreme Court of India to restore that place to Muslims to construct a Mosque. The Muslims of India will be happy if our Hindu brethren get a temple of their choice at some suitable place where it can withstand with 1200 columns and can exist for 1000 years.

Social Responsibility

According to news published in print media that IT czar and philanthropist Azim Premji expressed, we should not have any legal mandate for companies to do CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). He said philanthropy or charity or contribution to society must come from within, and it cannot be mandated from outside.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the funding and grants process under which Non-profit organisations (NGOs) can get financial and other support from the corporate sector. Under the Companies Act, 2013, it is a mandatory provision to provide a contribution of two per cent of the average, not profit of companies.

Generosity of IT mogul Azim Premji is widely known, he donated huge portion of his wealth for charity purpose, just as American media mogul Robert Edward Turner, popularly known as Ted Turner donated sizable portion of his wealth for charity. Social media giant Mark Zuckerberg has already committed 97 per cent of his wealth for charity, and recently Bill Gates donated 150 million dollars to Serum Institute, the vaccine manufacturer of India with a contract to keep the covid vaccine price as low as possible. Needless to say, they did not need any CSR to show their generosity for the society.

But the recent study shows that philanthropy among Indian mega rich is lowest in the world. Because they are more interested in spending millions on their family members’ weddings or birthday parties to show their wealth and prosperity. In our country, we find generous and kind personality like Azim Premji very rarely.
