Hypocrisy of ‘Western Values’

The trail of death and destruction in Gaza has plummeted the stature of the United Nations as never before, due to its failure to pass even a single resolution to mitigate the miseries of the Palestinians, even as the fervent appeals by the UN chief Antonio Guterres who lamented that ‘Gaza has become a graveyard for children’ were unheeded.

And the hypocrisy of the ‘Western values’ was exposed when the United States and its allies who were aggrieved with the loss of innocent lives in Hamas’s attack, are apparently remorseless when more than 11,000 civilians were killed in Gaza so far.

BJP’s Poll Gimmicks

I beg to invite your kind attention to an article titled “After Pasmanda Muslims, BJP Trying to Win Sufis” by Mr. Arshad Shaikh (Radiance, 4 November, 2023).

The learned writer has perfectly dissected the BJP’s strategies. To divide the Muslims across Ashraf, Ajlaf, Arzal, then the Sufis and others is to weaken the Muslims from within.Muslims should not fall prey to such designs of their sworn enemies. Muslims should always keep in mind a famous proverb. “Leopards never change their spots.”

Congrats to Mr. Arshad Shaikh for his bold article. May his tribe grow.

Tremendous Welfare Project

The chief minister of Tamil NaduM.K.Stalin, addressing an eventorganised at the KalaivanarArangam in Chennai recently, said thatwith more than a crore of women are getting a monthly allowance of ₹1000.The project has beensuccessfully implemented without any complaints.

Reiterating that the monthly payment of ₹1000 is the right of women heads of families,he said that the total number ofbeneficiaries now stood at 1,13,84,300 though only 1,06,58,375 of the total 1.63 croreapplicants were found to be eligible for the benefit when the scheme was launched.

Talking about thecritics who were cynical of the scheme right from the day it waspromised in the manifesto, and their repeated fault-finding ways,he said that the people, however, understood the scheme and afterthe eligibility conditions were made clear in the announcement, only 1.63 crore persons applied for it though there were total of 2.24 crore family cardholders in the state.

At the launch event, the chief minister handed over ATM cardsto six women whose names have been added now and would startreceiving the monthly payment from December.

It’s Deeply Saddening

It is deeply saddening that this editorial (Radiance, Issue No. 33, 18 Nov. 2023) makes no comment on the rulers of Arab countries who are proxies of Zionist Israel and USA.
