PIL Alleges BJP’s Support in Attacks on Manipur Tribals

A PIL has been filed before the Supreme Court by Manipur Tribal Forum seeking directions to the Central and State governments to evacuate the Manipuri Tribals who had fled to CRPF camps and to ensure they reach their residence safely under security escort.

According to Bar and Bench, the PIL alleged that the attacks on tribal communities in Manipur have the support of BJP which is in power in the State as well as at the Centre.

The report on May 7 said that the PIL further alleged that 30 tribal persons were killed and 132 were injured, but no FIR has been registered so far. The clashes and violence in Manipur have stemmed from the opposition of certain tribes to the demand by the majority Meitei community to grant them Scheduled Tribes status.

Action against Religious Hatred

Despite the Supreme Court’s directive to take action suo motu against hatemongers, people are indulging in hatemongering. Addanda C. Cariappa, Director of Rangayana, has been booked for allegedly provoking religious hatred during an election campaign speech in T. Shettigeri village of Kodagu district. According to an FIR lodged against him, Mr Cariappa was campaigning for the BJP in T. Shettigeri on May 4 when he allegedly delivered a provocative speech that disturbed harmony among different communities, promoted hatred, and disturbed public peace. Mr Cariappa is also accused of making false statements with regard to elections.

Also, on May 8, several organisations represented in a collective delegation to the Commissioner of Police (Thane), demanding prompt action against the hate speech delivered during an event of Hindu Janjagran Dharam Sabha (HJDS) on April 30.

Officials need to take prompt action against hate speeches in the greater interest of peace and communal amity in the country.

Take Rohingyas Back

Sad to know the news in the media about the plight of the Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar in south Bangladesh. The government of Myanmar should take them back and recognise them as citizens. It is not fair to say that the Rohingyas cause problems wherever they go. They continue to suffer, and are discriminated against even today.

Rohingyas have to live a life of dignity and discipline. Not just Bangladesh, every country should support them.Having said that, it is disturbing to see news reports that suggest that ‘Jihadist’ groups have infiltrated into camps to prepare young Rohingyas for terrorist operations.

Persecution of Palestinians

I beg to draw your kind attention to an article by Dr.RamzyBaroud titled “Losing Deterrence” published in Radiance vide issue of 6 May, 2023.

Persecution of Palestinians has been going on for more than seven decades. Any solution is not visible in near future. Flag bearers of human rights and international community are silent.

The learned writer has mentioned certain important points in his article which are worth noting.

  • During wars, Israelis often exhibited unity, and ideological divides seemed largely irrelevant.
  • Israel’s success on the battlefield has been largely predicated on the unhindered military, logistical and financial support from its Western allies and the disunity of its Arab enemies.

We, the Muslims, should learn a lesson from our sworn enemies and shun sectarian differences for our better future. Islam teaches us unity of mankind irrespective of caste, creed, colour, religion and nationality.

I suggest to your good self to please publish the articles of Dr.RamzyBaroud regularly which are written after thorough research. His is an investigative journalism. He is an authority on Palestine issues.
