Establish a College in Sujapur

Education is the backbone of any nation. Every student has the right to pursue higher studies. Sujapur of Malda district is an area of high population density. Many students from 14 High Schools in Sujapur and adjacent areas pass higher secondary and high madrasah examinations every year. But the students have to bear additional expense to pursue higher studies in colleges far from their home as there is no college in Sujapur. Many of them cannot continue their studies due to the lack of a college in their locality.

In 2021, the percentage of students who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination is much higher in comparison to previous years. As a result, demand for college seats has increased. In this situation guardians are extremely worried about the future of their children. The residents of Sujapur have been demanding for a college since Independence in 1947. But nobody paid any heed to this demand.

Through Radiance, we want to request the administration to pay attention to this long standing demand as soon as possible. We also request all residents of Sujapur to raise their voice, keeping the future of their next generation in mind.

It’s a Daydream

Let me quote a famous quotation, which reflects the truth of our life:

“Be careful of your thoughts, for your thoughts become your words. Be careful of your words, for your words become your deeds. Be careful of your deeds, for your deeds become your habits. Be careful of your habits, for your habits become your character. Be careful of your character, for your character becomes your destiny.”

On August 9,2021, a march was organised by former Delhi BJP spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyay at Jantar Mantar of Delhi in which a disciple of Yetinarasinganand shouted among other abusive slogan,  “Mulle kate jayenge Ram Ram chillayenge”. Earlier Anurag Thakur had hurled the slogan, “Desh Ghaddaron ko goli maro….”. Kapil Mishra is said to have taken the slogan of Anurag Thakur to its logical end by organising Delhi riots of 2019.

Ever since the Modi government came to power, there has been an increase in the trend of hateful slogans and speeches against Muslims. Those who are organising and who are hurling such abusive language are given promotion in BJP with full impunity. Now the destiny of RSS dreams to eliminate Muslims from India. It is a daydream of RSS.

Muslims have been living in India for thousands of years, ruled this country for years more than any community of India. Ruling a country for such a long period doesn’t occur without real love for this Great Land. Further they have given so much to this country that makes them to be treated as ordinary citizens of India, per the Constitution of India. Islam has made it obligatory on Muslims to respect God’s other communities, as such Muslims want to live here in peace and communal amity with all fellow citizens.

Repeal Sedition Law

This is in reference to an article “The Case Against Sedition” by Arshad Shaikh and another article under the heading “Former SC Judges on Sedition Law” vide issue of Radiance 1-7 August 2021.

Undoubtedly, sedition was a colonial law enacted by the British government to suppress prominent freedom fighters. After Independence it has no relevance. It could have been repealed by earlier governments in power. But it is regrettable that no government took this step in the past 74 years. Even the top court of the country has been lackadaisical although on a few occasions it questioned its validity. It is pretty obvious that many journalists, social activists and intellectuals have been arrested on sedition charges for criticising the government.

Freedom of speech and expression, with reasonable restrictions, is certainly the ideal of a democracy. It is therefore time for Parliament and the government to repeal or reform this law.
