READERS’ PULSE 22-may-2016

I read the editorial (Radiance Viewsweekly, 8-14 May), mentioning various riots occurred in India during the last 70 years and not in a single case justice has been proclaimed and this savagery continued for so long because of communal minded politicians.

Rehabilitate Acquitted Muslim Youth
I read the editorial (Radiance Viewsweekly, 8-14 May), mentioning various riots occurred in India during the last 70 years and not in a single case justice has been proclaimed and this savagery continued for so long because of communal minded politicians. So the answer for this is to counter them with value based politics and people of ethics and high moral characters should come forward to ensure justice in society. In case of acquittal of youths in various bomb blast cases, the release of innocents is not enough; they should be rehabilitated properly as they have lost cream years of their lives.

Malegaon Let Off
The security agencies twist and turn in the Malegaon blast case is quite surprising. The new twist reminds us of what was earlier told by special public prosecutor Rohini Salian who had said that ‘since this new government came to power, I have been told to go soft on accused (Hindu extremists)’. There should not be any kind of politics in terror probe because remember if security agencies facilitate any wrongdoers under the patronage of the government in power, it would be the most dangerous thing in war on terror.
If an innocent is punished, the perpetrators will be indirectly encouraged to strike more and more, anticipating easy let off thereafter. This would be in the interest neither of the people nor of the country. We must be careful of all the black sheep in various departments jeopardising national interest. The very let off reminds me of a very catching headline of a national daily, “No one Killed Jessica.”

Integration Possible
European imperialism was premised upon the superiority of what was European and the inferiority of the rest. Just think how Macaulay in his 1835 Minute privileged a single shelf of a good European library over the entire corpus of oriental literary production. This carefully crafted myth stands demolished by Sadiq Khan’s emergence as the virtual ruler of London, the British imperial capital. His victory does have a huge symbolic value as traces of colonialism are still there in the European sub-conscious mind.
Sadiq Khan’s introduction of himself as “I am Sadiq Khan and I am the mayor of London,” reminds one of the now famous line from a recent Hindi film: “My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist.” Both the real-life Sadiq Khan and the reel-life Rizwan Khan demonstrate through their activities that being a Muslim does not automatically translate into being a terrorist. Sadiq khan shows that it is absolutely possible to be integrated into the European or Western society without ceasing to be a Muslim. In this respect, he must be a role model for millions of Muslim youths in the West as a dark cloud of rising Islamophobia ominously looms over them.

SIO Conference
This refers to the news “SIO to organise India International Islamic Academic Conference” Radiance (15-21 May). The declaration made by Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) is very appreciating and a lot is expected from this conference which is to be held in October. SIO president has recently approached renowned world Islamic Scholar Dr Ali Mohiuddin Al-Qara Daghi to invite him as the chief guest for the upcoming Conference. His presence will certainly grace the occasion and the organisers to make it a thought-provoking conference that could ignite the audience and scholars as well. Prof Afzal Wani, Dean, University School of Law and Legal Studies, GSS Indraprastha University is hopeful as he said during the declaration that it will ensure objectivity and vast range of scholars will bring clarity in Islamic thought, meaning and purpose of life. Further it will send message across the world in a very lucid and crystal way.

Capitalism is into a mess. Even in US about 50 per cent people want Socialism because of injustices of Capitalism and concentration of wealth in the hands of one per cent rich individuals and corporations. This is the time to spread knowledge of Islamic Economics.
