Right to Life in the Gorakhpur Hospital Incident

Right to life is a very important right of an individual not just in the Constitution of India but any constitution in any part of the world. This is the last right which a state can ignore. India being at a very low rank in HDI, it is generally considered that State cannot provide for medical facilities which citizens in HDI well off countries enjoy. That doesn’t leave the authorities to play with the lives of children who have been killed by the negligence of doctors at the Gorakhpur’s Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College.

It is a paradox that when parties spend government funds to the tune of thousands of crores on Statues which does nothing other than inflating their Ego, the government couldn’t provide funds for oxygen to save the lives of the innocent children.

The government should give the culprits the strictest punishments which can be an eye openor for doctors and the authorities responsible in the future. The UP government which has been riding on a media PR exercise has been stung with the ground situation. If not resign, at least the CM should have the courage to accept the fact that such things could have been avoided if the government would have acted beforehand.

It’s Insulting and Humiliating

This refers to an order of UP government in which Madrasa authorities had been instructed to submit videography of Independence Day celebrations as proof of patriotism. What could be more insulting and humiliating for any community than this? In fact, it’s an unconstitutional move that indicates prejudice and mistrust of state government against the Muslim community. It hurts the sentiments of the whole community and makes it more suspicious among fellow countrymen.

Who has given an authority to so-called patriotism certificate bearers to check out and measure the ratio of patriotism of any community by this way?

It’s a condemnable move and such types of rubbish must be opposed in future.

No More Reactive Politics

It refers to the report ‘We must Set an Agenda Rather Be only Reactive’ (Radiance, 13-19 August). Mr. Ali Anwar has hit the nail on the head. The present politics of opposition parties and secular section is limited to only the reaction on the agenda of the ruling party. It seems that secular parties have not any agenda about the country except gaining the power. The ruling party is taking the benefit of this directionless and disenchanted opposition. It is getting success to set nefarious and divisive agenda all over the country. The need of the hour is that the secular section should come up with its own plan and agenda and pressurise the government to implement it.

Value-Based Politics

This refers to the report published in Radiance Viewsweekly (13-19 August) under the heading ‘After U-turn by Nitish, Jamaat calls for value-based politics. It is true that there has been more degradation not only in our political structure but also in political parties as well as in the entire system. The thought process and moral and intellectual bankruptcy is channelizing our polity and the system to further rot and thus creating a political crisis. Nowadays, the winability and the lust for power are ruling the roost, keeping on the backburner the moral and ideological values. So, what Jamaat has asked for value-based polity which is the only way forward to cleanse the system.
