Communal Harmony More Important Than the Wins and Defeats in Elections

With the winding up of the Gujarat elections, we have come to the conclusion that this elections campaign was also full of hatred and communal polarization like the earlier campaigns. It was one of the most disgusting and communally motivated campaigns targeted against a particular community. Religious sentiments were instigated through provocative and fierce speeches. Communal terms were used openly in place of development, employment, health and education et al. The most distressing aspect was that even the media that has been playing the role of the ruling party’s spokesperson, added fuel to the flames, joined hands with the hate mongers. This ‘divisive strategy’ is a threat for communal harmony. In this regard, the Election Commission has the biggest responsibility to take notice of such communal remarks or statements because it’s a violation of the ‘code of conduct.’ Communal harmony is more important than the wins and defeats in elections?

Illegal Construction to Cause Environmental Damage

Vote-bank politics to patronise the illegal constructions and encroachments is in fact the root-cause of ever-mushrooming city-population of the capital, New Delhi. It is causing the biggest environmental damage. Union cabinet’s approval of immunity to the illegal buildings till the year 2020 will further increase illegal constructions whereby it will be shown on the papers that such illegal constructions are prior to cut-off date stipulated in the notification issued to increase such immunity by the year 2020. It is also quite common that encroachers on the footpaths and roads in Delhi deliberately get themselves once challaned by the municipal bodies and police so as to get an authenticated certificate of being law-breakers to encroach the public land. Such challans or receipts then become a solid proof to get an alternate site in case of the removal of encroachments. Encroacher sells off allotted alternate sites, and again encroach another land. If city’s environment has to be saved, then law-breakers should be dealt with strictly rather than given immunity. Checking the ever-increasing city population through strictest action against the illegal constructions and encroachments can only save the environment of Delhi, to provide big relief to its law-abiding citizens.

Superb Editorial

I have received Radiance(17-23 December). The editorial is superb and hard hitting. You have exposed the enemies of Muslims without mincing the words and advised the Muslims to stand united and jointly resist the Israeli and American moves. In India, there is a group of Muslims who are more Hindu than the born-Hindus. Mr. Saiyed Shah Nawaz Hussain and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to name a few are the representatives of this gang.

Rare and Remarkable Unity of International Community

This refers to the blatant rejection of the US President Donald Trump’s decision recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by the International community. Passing a resolution with the compelling unity of 128 countries, the United Nations General Assembly declared the decision of Trump as null and void notwithstanding the US was threatening all the countries to cut off aids. There was only one country Canada which stood by the US decision and the rest kept out of the voting. This is downright rare and remarkable unity of the world. This is the unity the world needs not only for now but always to protect it from the imperial and neo-colonial forces. These forces have increasingly been driving the world into the matrix of bloodbath, war and exploitation. I wish this kind of unity of International community would have been against the US when it was waging war in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria etc. Unfortunately, the foreign policy of every country is predicated on the vested interests rather than principals. That is why such kind of unity comes up rarely.
