Abu Hurairah relates that the Holy Messenger ﷺasked, “Do you know who is really insolvent and poor?” Those present said that the poor man was one who did not possess money or any other resources. The Blessed Messenger said that in his community the insolvent and the poor was one who would go before God on the Day of Judgement with his record of prayers, fasts and Zakat, but at the same time had abused someone in the world, had blamed someone, had misappropriated someone’s property, had killed someone or had unjustly beaten someone. Then all his virtues would be distributed among his victims. And if his virtues were exhausted with the claims of his victims still unsettled, the faults of those victims would be transferred to his account and he would be thrown into the Hell.

Islam enjoins the believers certain obligatory prayers. It also teaches them how to behave with the members of their family, relatives, neighbours, other fellow beings and animals as well. While performing the prayers in right earnest, they must not be unmindful of the rights of their family members, relations, neighbours and other fellow beings. One who, on one hand, performs obligatory prayers with utmost devotion while, on the other, inflicts umpteen excesses and injuries upon one’s fellow beings, is a loser. In the Day of Judgement his good deeds would be distributed among his victims. And, in case his victims’ claims would remain still unsettled, the victims’ faults would be transferred to his account.
