Currently India is facing economic, cultural and social crises and losing its identity andglory in the comity of nations. Politically and socially,India covers a large diversity but now it is facing a wave of polarisation. The ruling party is endorsing communal ideologies and divide and rule policy. This makes women an easy target to harass and to create propaganda against them, diverting the nation from real problems in the country. Extremists are targeting one community and trying to prove them anti-national by auctioning women on app, banning hijab(right to choose what to wear), dividing students and youth in the name of religion, love jihad and triple talaq.

Current propagandas against women in India seem to be very dangerous for honour, dignity and safety of women. Whether triple talaq, rape cases, murders, love jihad, sulli deals, hijab verdict or Kerala story –all these propagandas going on in India are against the honour and dignity of Indian women. This is an attempt by a group of hateful people who want to target women and humiliate them publicly.

These recent incidences reflect disappointing scenario for women in India. Polarisation is the main cause of these propagandas. The ruling party is supporting it, giving way to communal violence and dividing the society on the basis of religion. Targeting one community in society and making fake propagandas against them and targeting their religious, social and educational rights are some of the tools of the hate-filled ruling party to destroy the image and impact of women in the Indian society. Some recent propagandas are:

Bulli Bai and Sulli deals appsto auction women were launched to hurt the dignity of women. These propagandas seem to be a manifestation of a prejudiced image of Indian women.

The Triple talaq bill: PM NarendraModi considers himself “Masiha of Muslim women” and claims that Muslim women feel safe under the BJP government. This bill was against the Shari’ah law and was imposed forcefully on women. It hurts the religious sentiments of the community.

The hijabban in many parts of the country, especially the hijab issue in Karnataka, was another attack against women’s dignity as they are forced to give up their right to choose “what to wear”. Banning hijab in educational institutions is another way to separate youth or students on the basis of religion. It seems women are at risk of losing all rights in the society. The hijab ban is justified by the government by saying they are “misguided”and need to be brought back to the mainstream of education.

On the other hand, the BJP government has reduced the budget for minority educational empowerment, from `2,515 crores ($304m) to `1,689 crores ($204.5m).On the recommendations of the SacharCommittee, Maulana Azad National Fellowship was implemented for minority students pursuing higher education. Recently the government discontinued the MANF scheme.

These incidences disregard the Constitution of India and communal harmony and diversity of our country. The government claimed that women “feel safe” under the BJP administration but many younggirls now don’t feel safe in public places, not even in schools and colleges.

Once again women are targetedin the Indian society. The women’s honour and dignity have been shattered. In the name of religion, and for social, cultural, or political gains women have always been oppressed. The ‘dark ages’ are not yet over for women in our country. Earlier they were targeted in the name of traditions such as sati pratha, breast tax, devadasi pratha, etc.; now they are targeted for political gains. Whether it is Nirbhaya or Asifa, Hyderabad, Unnao, Kathua or countless rape cases, murders or crimes against women or recent incidence of hijab issue, love jihad, forceful conversion, Kerala story and many more – in all these incidences women were prime target. From ancient India to current India women’s dignity and honour has always been shattered, this is thedark truth of the Indian society. They want to disempower women by threatening their honour and dignity.
