Madrasa Qasimul Uloom located in the Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh postponed the grand religious gathering that was scheduled to take place on June 17, fearing the threats from some anti-social elements of the area. The rector of the madrasa went missing and all the students who used to stay in the madrasa have returned to their homes. According to the witnesses, the majority community of the area came in large numbers, took the siege of the mosque and insulted and abused Qari Ghulam Rabbani, rector of the madrasa, and warned that the madrasa would not host the religious gathering as scheduled. The police is said to be biased in its actions.
