All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) General Secretary Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, while presiding over the meeting, said, “I have been familiar with Zafaryab Jilani since my student days and after coming to the Board, I had the opportunity to observe his performance closely. Three special things were noticed in his character: one was his legal insight and ability to convince the scholars and intellectuals, secondly, his patience that even the biggest criticism was accepted calmly and cordially and he used the same skill before the media. Thirdly, his spirit of kindness, sincerity and sympathy will become a beacon for future generations.

“The dedication with which Zafar Sahib worked in connection with the Babri Masjid case will live forever in history. A document should be prepared on the basis of the articles of the people belonging to them so that their services are not buried in the chest of history but will continue to be useful for future generations as a document.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Qasim Rasool Ilyas, Member Executive Committee of the Board, described the demise of Zafaryab Jilani as a great tragedy and said that he had the opportunity to work with Jilani Sahib for 19 years. Speaking in detail about his exemplary role in the Babri Masjid case, he said that even though the Babri Masjid case was decided in favourof the opponent, but collecting all the arguments and evidence in favour of the mosque is the result of Jilani Sahib’s hard work.

On this occasion, Mujtaba Farooq, Chairman, Central Board of Education, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, said that this is a vacuum that we should try to fill. It is for the Ummah to take collective steps and create individuals to fill this gap.
