Even after 65 years of independence Indian Muslims have been facing continuous harassment which shakes their faith in the rule of law and democracy in India. For the first four decades after independence, in addition to discrimination which resulted in their marginalisation, they had to face collective communal onslaughts which endangered their life and property. Then, for the last two decades another strategy of framing Muslim youths in terror cases and damaging their image has been adopted. The continuous cases of arresting and torturing Muslim youths are aimed at demoralising the entire community.
The known communal minded Shylocks and their outfits are behind this sordid drama. What is more disturbing is the role being played by government agencies whose primary duty is to safeguard the country and its citizens. Unfortunately they have been using all sorts of methods to frame educated Muslim youths in false terror cases. Now there is a proposal to start a National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) to control terrorist activities. It is being widely criticised as it may be misused to intimidate the opponents of the powers-that-be, torture members of weaker sections, settle scores and teach lessons to those whom they do not like.
From time to time there are reports of the so-called terrorist outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM) and its destructive activities. Unfortunately the national media, especially Hindi and regional languages media, loves to reproduce verbatim the police and IB versions. But, for those who know the reality IM is either an imaginary organisation or an organisation fabricated by the prejudiced agencies.
Recently the leading Human Rights activist, Shubhradeep Chakravorty has released a 68 minutes film, documenting seven cases of Muslim youths, from four Indian cities, falsely framed in terror cases. They spent six months to eight years behind bars and were ultimately acquitted by courts.
One lesson the Muslims of India have learnt the hard way is not to be intimidated and disappointed. Heart within and God overhead they have resolved to stand firm and claim their fundamental rights as true servants of God and good citizens of this great country. Earth belongs to God and He gives power to whom He likes: Finally, decision making is in the hands of God and He is the best judge.
The most important thing in the storms of difficulties is refusal to be demoralised. If we have courage, faith in Allah and in ultimate success of truth we will win and if we are demoralised we are sure to fail. Therefore let us do our duty to God, to our dear country and to ourselves. Good times are surely ahead, good sense will certainly prevail and goodness will certainly dawn upon us sooner or later, hopefully sooner.
