A Palestinian official called on Greece and Moldova to resist Israeli pressure and facilitate the sailing of Gaza-bound Libyan “Hope” aid boat from a Greek port to break the Israeli naval blockade. Jamal Al-Khodari, the head of the Gaza-based Popular Campaign against the Siege said: “Greece should not accept Israeli pressure to prevent the ship from departing.” He said the aid boat is sailing to the Gaza Strip “in accordance with the international maritime law and the United Nations’ conventions.”

On the other hand a senior Palestinian figure said that rising tension with Israel over settlement building in the Jerusalem area was a time bomb that was eroding trust between the two sides. Ahmed Qurei, a former prime minister and negotiator, joined Tsipi Livni, a former Israeli foreign minister and now opposition leader in parliament, in calling on both sides to work harder to achieve a two-state solution. “The Jerusalem situation, I think, is a time bomb if it continues in this way,” Qurei said referring to the expansion of Jewish settlements in East Jerusalem and plans to demolish Palestinian homes to make way for more construction.
