In a joint statement, Tej Lal Bharti, National President of Hakim Ajmal Khan Forum for Peace and Communal Harmony, and Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan, General Secretary, expressed deep regret over the recent statements made by certain political leaders regarding madrasas. They said that attempting to mislead the public and inflame communal sentiments for political gain is a sign of moral bankruptcy.
They said attempts are being made in the country to mislead people, particularly the younger generation, through the politics of hatred. According to them, creating divisions between Hindus and Muslims has become the strategy of certain political parties, whereas mutual brotherhood is indispensable for India’s progress and unity.
Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan said madrasas have given the country countless distinguished personalities. He recalled that India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, along with numerous politicians, writers, poets, and social figures, were associated with madrasa education. He said that the sacrifices of religious scholars (Ulama) and madrasa graduates during the freedom movement are an unforgettable chapter of history. After 1857, thousands of Ulama were hanged and numerous religious institutions were destroyed, something history can never forget.
He added that today, attempts are being made through the politics of hatred to weaken India’s social fabric, which is a matter of concern for the country’s future.
