The Karnataka State Human Rights Commission, on 5 November, registered a suo moto case against Bangalore city police for implicating three Muslim youth on charges of terrorism. Besides, the commission issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of Karnataka, recommending him to give an interim compensation of Rs. 2 lakh to each of the three people within a month time. It also asked the state government to prosecute the investigators and officials who subjected the innocent men to unjust detention and torture.
The three accused – Peer Mohideen, Saddam Husain and Tenkasi Haneefa – were arrested by the Bangalore police on the charge of carrying out blast at Malleswaram six months ago. But they were released recently as the police could not prove their involvement in the case.
