Atrocities against women and girls including rape cases are taking place in India, particularly in UP and Delhi. Five rape and molestation cases were recently reported within 2 days in Delhi. Several such cases have also been reported from UP where a woman is chief minister. These include a 14-year girl being murdered at a police station and another instance of a girl being blinded while resisting a rape attempt. Even today brides are being tortured for dowry. Such horrible incidents of rape and atrocities against women and girls are highly condemnable.
All such cases must be tried by fast track courts and the criminals must be awarded very harsh punishments. Islamic law awards death sentence to rapists and murderers. Harsh punishment, no doubt, acts as a deterrent to such criminals.
