In the article “Role of Muslims in the Freedom Movement” (Radiance, August 21-27, 2011) there are several grave inaccuracies.

The correct name of the great national leader Subhash Chander Bose was Subhash Chander Bose and not Jagdish Subhash Chander Bose and Habibur Rahman and not Abdur Rahman was one of the closest associates of Bose.

Poet Hali and Munshi Zakaullah – the great Urdu writer and Justice Syed Ameer Ali were staunch loyalists and how could these gentlemen have any association with the Freedom Movement.

Maulana Barkatullah had worked with Raja Mahinder Pratap Singh, a great revolutionary, and not with Bhagat Singh or Ram Chander in the formation of the provisional Indian Republican Government set up in Kabul during the World War I.

Allama Iqbal had never taken any part in the Freedom Movement.

The correct name of the great nationalist Muslim leader who had served as the Gen. Secretary of Indian National Congress was Syed Mahmood and not Syed Muhammad.
