The RSS is planning to launch a new television channel to educate Indian Muslims about Islam. The Paigham TV Channel, as the RSS has decided to name the channel, is to be launched in the months ahead of parliamentary elections in 2014. Earlier, the Sangh launched an Urdu newspaper namely Paigam Madre Watan. An FM channel is also in plan. Girish Juyal, the paper’s chief editor and a former RSS pracharak, is believed to be the main player behind the initiatives. However, he denied having any hand of Sangh in the proposed TV Channel and claimed that it was his individual effort. Juyal is the national organising convener of Muslim Rashtriya Manch, an affiliate of the RSS and Sangh. The Muslim Rashtriya Manch has branches in 318 districts under 25 states. Its objective is to bridge the gap between the Muslim community and the RSS. “We, through our contact programmes, have been able to reach out to Muslims…and they now feel less hostile toward the RSS,” said Juyal.
