The Rashtriya Ulema Council is staging an open ended sit-in at Jantar Mantar in the national capital demanding reservation for Dalit Muslims under Article 341 of the Constitution. The sit-in was started on 17 February. The activists of the party, on 23 February, gheraoed the residence of Sonia Gandhi at 10 Janpath to mount pressure in their favour. The Article 341 has provision to give reservation to Hindu Dalits only and if a Dalit reverts to Islam, his reservation will automatically stand cancelled.
