A noted expert with Oriental Studies Institute in Saint Petersburg affiliated to Russian Academy of Sciences said that Iran is the most advanced country in the Middle East. Referring to Iran’s achievements in various fields including culture, industry and economy, Olga Akimoshkin added that Iran plays a great role in the region. He further noted that he has acquainted with Iran’s numerous accomplishments during his visits to the country. Iran’s regional policy is based on respecting other countries’ sovereignties and establishing peace and stability in the significant region, he contended. Akimoshkin, who has so far written 300 books and articles on Iran and was introduced as an eternal figure in the Persian language in Russia, maintains that Iran which boasts of 7000-year-old civilization has a lot to say. Iran has made remarkable progress in the field of science and technology, he said, underlining that its nuclear programme is of peaceful nature. Akimoshkin also called for further cooperation between Iran and Russia.
