Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, a key accused in 2008 Malegaon blast case, was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police in connection with the murder of Sunil Joshi, an RSS worker and a suspect in the Samjhauta Express blast case, late on February 25. Joshi, believed to be an associate of the Sadhvi, was shot dead on December 29, 2007, near his house in Dewas, MP. Two men on a motorbike and others in a Maruti van had shot Joshi from close range. The MP police had sought the permission of the special MCOCA court to question Pragya in the case.

The Dewas police filed a chargesheet in the case on February 28, which said the former RSS pracharak was eliminated by his own men because his ‘reckless behaviour’ had made him a threat to the group. The 432-page chargesheet, filed in the JMFC Court, Dewas, names Malegaon blast accused Pragya Singh Thakur the main conspirator. Harshad Solanki, Vasudev Parmar, Anand Raj Kataria and Ramcharan Patel are named in the chargesheet filed by Investigating Officer Vinod Khushwah, along with Pragya. A supplementary chargesheet would be filed once the two remaining accused are held.
