Saudi Arabia has urged the 19-member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference, for recognition of the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign country, which Serbia through its diplomatic and manipulative actions is trying to prevent it. Serbia destroyed the Islamic heritage in Kosovo, burnt down hundreds of Mosques, murdered tens of Imams and destroyed and desecrated some of the most important Islamic holy sites in Kosovo. Serbia desecrated hundreds of mosques painting them with obscene graffiti during the war in 1998-99. Serbia, in order to prevent the recognition of Kosovo, is propagating in the Muslim world that Kosovo is a diabolical Western project aimed at destroying the present world order, while on the other hand it is presenting itself to its Orthodox allies as the defender of Christianity in Europe, presenting Kosovars as Islamic terrorists. Kosovo, a sovereign country located in south-eastern Europe, which declared independence last year, has over 90% Muslim majority population.
