Saudi, Iran together in Syria

The moves to resolve the thorny relationship between the Saudi and Iranian neighbours are accelerating. The effects of the recent understanding between them, which was sponsored by China, are visible in the complex regional issues, particularly in Yemen and Syria.

There is no doubt that the ambitions of the Saudis and the Iranians go beyond Syria. For the latter, it is only a small geographical spot in their desired influence maps. Syria is important to all regional players and some international players, and it is not significant to anyone. All of these people want to control it or a part of it or to have an influence on it in some form or the other. But no one cares about what happens in it or its people. There is an unspoken, but clear, understanding between all the players in Syria, that this understanding/collusion should bury the spring of the people.

Syria is a deep wound in the conscience of its people. Whoever says otherwise is lying or boasting. Whatever is the allegiance of the Syrians fighting in it, for this side or for that, from inside or outside, the only real narrative which stands out to the public is the largescale destruction and the obstruction in the horizon of a possible Syrian-Syrian solution. The (Bashar al-Asad) regime does not want this solution, and the opposition is not capable of it. The people who have paid heavy and unparalleled price for their basic rights, nobody bothers about them.
