Enough is enough.The video of kicking youngmen while offering Namaz-e-Juma (Friday Prayers) by a uniformed policeman is not only disturbing but provocative and might trigger serious repercussions.
Thanks to Muslims of the area, the Imam and the local leaders who behaved very sanely and did not allow the situation to go out of control.
But it leaves many questions unanswered.
No sane person with a sound mind can do such a ghastly act. Definitely, he is indoctrinated to such an extent that he could not realise the gravity of his crime. Perhaps he might be feeling that he is enacting the ruling philosophy on the street, the power that be would be over pleased for his ‘valiant bravery’, he would not only be protected but be rewarded for this ‘act of gallantry’.
We have yet not heard a word from the Prime Minister or the Home Minister and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, who is the virtual ruler of the Union Territory of Delhi.This silence speaks volumes about the mindset of the government.
Media by and large is silent and considers it a non-event worth to be ignored. There is no uproar in the opposition camp also. That leaves the country particularly the Muslims in a very precarious condition.
What do the government and the civil and judicial system want? Should Muslims lose all faith in the rule of law or they be cowed down to become new slaves in this country?
We negate both options and urge the government to rise to the occasion and abandon partisan politics. This policy and politics is anti-national and goes against the fibres of Indian nationhood.
Muslims are the salt of the soil, they are integral to India. No power on earth can disintegrate Muslims from their motherland and it is so sacred for them that theycan offer Namaz anywhere on the land, the mountain, the sea and in the air with all fervour and put their head down and kiss the land with their forehead, which never bows down before anyone except Allah, the Almighty because it all belongs to Allah, the only God of the whole universe and everything therein.
I urge the Union Government and Delhi Administration to act decisively before it is too late. Arrest the culprit, register an F.I.R. and put him behind bars, and ensure speedy justice.
This is the least that should be done to assure the people that we are living in a democracy governed by the rule of law. It is not a police state, a jungle raj or a Banana republic.
We urge the civil society and people at large to rise to the occasion and raise effective voices to purge the communal virus from the body politic of the nation. Save the people, save the nation.
