The Apex Court, on 28 January, quashed the petition seeking review of its earlier decision on Article 377 under which any unnatural sex is prohibited and falls under the ambit of offence. The religious groups, including Jamaat-e-Islami Hind have hailed the decision of the court and said it is, in fact, the victory of social and moral values. Earlier, the apex court had overruled the Delhi High Court’s verdict which had decriminalised homosexuality. LGBTs had urged the court to review its verdict but the court quashed the review petition.
