Gulzar Aazmi, leader of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Arif Naseem Khan, Ex-Minister of Maharashtra and Advocate Nafees Siddiqui filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court demanding implementation of Srikrishna Commission Report.
Informing the court about the government’s dilly-dallying, the petition requests the court to punish convicted police officers and instruct the state government to implement the recommendations.
The Action Committee filed an 82-page detailed affidavit in which the Supreme Court has been requested to order the state government to punish guilty police officers. The court has fixed October 31 for hearing.
Aarif Naseem Khan is hopeful of relief to the victims of Mumbai riots because the court has already ordered the state government to implement the report of Srikrishna Commission. He said that the Maharashtra government has already appointed State Task Force under the supervision of high ranking police officers to implement the recommendations of Srikrishna Commission Report. But it is being taken just as a political ploy to wipe out the tears of the victims.
The commission has named some police officers responsible for the incidents of Sulaiman Usman Bakery and Hari Masjid, who have not been punished so far. This affidavit also demands to renew investigations for 10,259 riot cases registered at different police stations so that the innocent could get justice. These cases were closed by Shiv Sena and BJP government after complete investigations.

The affidavit also demands compensation for Mumbai riot victims along the lines of Delhi riots against Sikhs and Gujarat riots victims. It is to be noted that after 1992-93 Mumbai riots, Justice B.N. Srikrishna Commission was formed in January 1993 and the Commission presented its report in 1998 to the then Shiv Sena-BJP government but the government declared it s anti-Hindu and rejected it by. Then the Congress-led coalition came to power with the promise to implement Srikrishna Commission Report but it is yet to take any action.
