In a ridiculous move, the management of a school in Assam has asked a four-year-old girl to remove scarf or, alternatively, be ready to face expulsion from the school. The incident is of KristoJyotiSchool at Bokakhat of Golaghat district in Assam. The authority of the school, on 28 March, served notice to the parents of the girl, Fatima Bibi who is a nursery student in the school, and asked them to remove the scarf of the girl within 15 days. In his letter, Father Jose Varghese, principal of the school, ordered the parents to remove her scarf or instead not to send her to the school. Following this, the parents, on 8 April, filed a writ petition in Gauhati High Court. “We were shocked at the behaviour of the school authorities. They have serious problems with my daughter covering her head with a scarfwhich is a tradition,” states her mother.
