It refers to welcome writ-petition filed in the Supreme Court with senior advocate Harish Salve rightly arguing that those connected with political parties and holding high offices seek security as status-symbol. Former Parliamentarian Lalit Maken was murdered because his security-staff was misused also for household affairs apart from status symbol. I recall a Prime Minister of some country rightly advising Parliamentarians not to contest election or even enter public-life if they were so conscious about safety of their lives!

Security in India should be restricted to President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Governors, Chief Ministers and some other very selected few who have real threats to their lives, abolishing security-status to all ministers, Parliamentarians, state-legislatures and others in public life. This system will make a large fleet of police-force presently providing security-status of politicians at large. Surplus police-force will then be available to safety of people in general especially whistle-blowers. Removing security-status of those in legislature will make such hi-fi persons sensitive to safety of general public.
