This refers to the article, “Social Responsibility in Islam” by Syed Kazim published in Radiance (23-29 November). The article reminds an individual’s or organisational responsibility towards others and fellow citizens. The writer has correctly pointed out that social responsibility in Islam has been elaborated in a way that the individual members of society work together to fulfil the general needs of society as well as the individual needs of its members. He has also stressed the responsibility towards others, especially to those who are incapable of fulfilling their own needs. Social service in true sense is the one which is done in a selfless manner for the betterment of others without expecting any returns or favour.

Good step in field of child education
It was glad to read the report ‘Dynamics of Child Education’ in Radiance (23-29 November). Jamaat has taken good step to heed the guardians towards child education. In general, parents do not take child education seriously. If one takes it seriously, he loads child with books. They don’t have any obvious concept of child education. That is why children do not get right guidance. That creates shortcomings and faults in shaping up children. If children, who are our future, don’t get right guidance and direction on the right time, they may not play useful role in society. In this materialistic age, parents, teachers and guardians should be more conscious of child education. The need of the hour is to create awareness about it and awaken people.

WPI should highlight common man’s issues
This refers to the interview of Dr. Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, newly elected president of Welfare Party of India in Radiance (23-29). The interview is informative. The WPI president tried his best to give answers of the questions in a convincing manner. But many things were not clear such as, in what way, the party will move forward? What I think is that WPI should highlight common man’s issues aggressively. The issues that belong to every section and community such as price hike, women protection and injustice, etc. catch popular sentiments. We have best example of this way of progress of a party in Aam Aadmi Party. BJP also came to power by catching popular sentiments of Development. It is very unfortunate that nowadays common people are facing price hike. But, not a single party is standing against it. WPI must highlight this issue and campaign for it. It will a great step towards a welfare state.

Is it not Queer!
This refers to a caption in Radiance Viewsweekly (9-15 November 2014), “Dowry a Blot on Human Society”. It is observed that woman is the enemy of a woman. In most cases of torture and abuse towards woman is a woman. When it comes to daughter, they are oppressed. When it comes to son, they become oppressor. Is it not queer!

Friendship with Non-Muslims
Some of my students asked me about friendship with Non-Muslims. Islam emphasises good behaviour with all others. Sura Mumtahina (Sura no 60) verse 8 of the Qur’ān says that “As for those who do not fight against you on account of your faith (Deen) nor drive you out from your homeland, Allah does not forbid you to show them kindness and behave towards them with full justice.”
Allah has ordained justice for all.
