This refers to your column “Muslim Representation” (Radiance, 17-23 November). The article has rightly thrown light on the poor representation of Muslims in state legislature as well as in Parliament. Add to this, it is very hard to find even a single non-tainted Muslim in “the corridors of power” and by a hair’s breadth are they associated with the community. Muslim MPs and MLAs are only puppets at the hands of their political big brothers. From another vintage point, it is unfair for Muslims to expect proportional representation in politics as many among top brass leaders of the community consider participation in Indian politics a sin. I think the Muslim religious leaders should also think this way and send some good if not excellent Muslim minds to the corridors of power.
