Justice L Narasimha of Andhra Pradesh High Court, on December 29, noted that introduction of sex education in high schools has “spoilt” the minds of children. “Introduction of sex education in high schools, launched in 2005-06, has only spoilt the minds of children of impressionable age,” he stated while sharing his views on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. It is worthy to mention here that the Union Government had introduced sex education in schools in 2005.

Meanwhile, the Apex Court has voiced concern over unreasonable statements of political leaders backing homosexuality and criticising the Supreme Court ruling. The bench of Justice GS Singhvi and Justice Upadhyay noted that the statements of the politicians were inappropriate and they should not repeat the same in future. Notably, Sonia Gandhi, P Chidambaram, Kapil Sibbal and others have criticised apex court’s ruling which changed Delhi High Court’s verdict to decriminalise same sex.
