Advisor to Telangana Govt. Mohammed Ali Shabbir on December 1 called on Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Raj Bhavan.During the meeting, Shabbir briefed the Governor on the implementation of 4% Muslim reservation in Telangana and AP, which so far benefitted over 20 lakh poor socially and economically backward Muslims in the Telugu states since 2004-05.He also briefed the Governor about other schemes being implemented by the state government for the welfare of minorities.
Shabbir informed the Governor that CM Revanth Reddy launched 28 integrated residential schools that would benefit thousands of students from SCs, STs, BCs and Minorities.
The Congress govt. in undivided AP had provided 5% reservation for Muslims but as it was breaching the 50% barrier of reservation for all segments, it slashed the quota for Muslims to 4% on the direction of the Apex Court.
