The Shah Waliullah Institute organised an international seminar on the “Contribution of Shah Waliullah Muhaddis Dehlawi to development of Arabic, Persian and Urdu languages” in Delhi on April 28.
The Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha K Rehman Khan, who participated in the seminar, expressed his views that Shah Waliullah’s contribution to religious and academic development is unforgettable. He was the leader who raised his voice against the slavery to British. Shah Waliullah was the great scholar who in the 18th century explained the Holy Qur’ān, the Fiqh and Islamic philosophy. He gave consciousness and courage to Indian Muslims to revolt against the British rule.
He presented the true spirit of Islam through his powerful writings, especially his epoch-making book Hujjatullah-il-Baligha, distinctly described what is Islamic and what is un-Islamic. He is truly regarded as one of the greatest exponents of Islam in history.
The programme was presided over by Saidov Saidbeg Boykhonovich, the Tajik ambassador in New Delhi while Dr Ubaid Aleem convened the programme. On the occasion the Shah Waliullah Award was presented to two great persons Mr Ikhlaq Hussein Qasmi and Maulana Faqihuddin posthumously.
