Shaikh Abdur-Rahman al-Sumait passed away in Kuwait on 15 August. Al-Sumait is considered one the most well-known Kuwaiti propagators who changed Dawah in Africa. He dedicated his life toward Dawah and relief work in Africa and helped provide extensive humanitarian assistance for impoverished Muslims throughout Africa. During his lifetime, approximately 11 million people came to the fold of Islam through his Dawah efforts by the will of Allah. He built over 5,700 mosques, got 9,500 wells dug, established over 860 schools and 120 hospitals. He looked after and sponsored more than 15,000 orphans, established 860 schools, 4 universities and 204 Islamic centres. His society has also established two colleges in Kenya and Zanzibar, offered 200 scholarships to Muslim African students to pursue higher studies in medicine, engineering and technology.
