SILENCE TOO HAS A VOICE

Supporters of Moqtada al-Sadr may have staged a comeback in Iraq’s parliamentary election in Baghdad’s Sadr City slum. On the face of it Al-Sadr is out of the scene as reportedly he is doing higher religious studies in Iran. His silence too has a language and the developments in Iraq have clear marks of his movement against the presence of foreign troops, read American, in his country. Breaking his long silence, he urged followers to vote in the election for the Iraqi National Alliance (INA), the large Shi’ite coalition Sadr has joined. The message is loud and clear that at this moment taking part in the political process is a way to get rid of the occupier.
