SIO DISCUSSES VARIOUS ISSUES WITH UNION MINISTERS

SIO National Secretaries Shahnawaz Ali Raihan and Muhammed Bilal called on the officials of HRD Ministry and pleaded for the restoration and preservation of minority status of Jamia Millia Islamia and submitted a letter to seek HRD Minister Kapil Sibal’s appointment. Later they met Union Tourism Minister of State, Sultan Ahmed and demanded the preservation of neglected Muslim historical sites, and sought more opportunity for students belonging to the minority community in getting admission in institutions like Institutes of Hotel Management and Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management. They also met Union Information and Broadcasting Minister of State C.M Jatua and demanded ban on porn sites. The Secretaries also visited Congress Headquarters and talked to Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad and Mohsina Kidwai over Jamia issue. They introduced SIO to former Union Minister Mani Shanker Iyer and presented a set of Islamic books to him.
