Students Islamic Organisation of India, Karnataka Zone is conducting a 10-day campaign on ‘Popular Culture’ based on the theme “Students! – Where are you heading towards?” from 17th Feb. 17 to 26. The campaign aims at creating awareness about the negative impact of popular culture on the students and youth. The campaign would focus on the philosophy and effects of popular culture. It can be better described as an octopus with several tentacles like music, films, pornography, reality shows, drinks, relationship, behaviour, fashion, literature, advertisements, brand consciousness, media, etc. It has surrounded us from all sides and the probability of survival is negligible unless we stand up today. The main focus areas will be the concept of peace of mind, entertainment and various emerging relationships.

Various programmes in schools and colleges will be conducted during the campaign. Various tools like street plays, poster/wall magazine, campus magazine, discussion forums, handmade posters, group discussion/panel discussion/debate/class lecture, social networking, cultural fest/day/evening and short film screening will be used during the campaign.
